Review of Village Green 2019: Festival of Arts & Music
Had two real problems with the festival this but never had in the past
1) Was that gates should have opened at 11am but only opened at 11.30 and not one of the security team come down to tell people what the hold up was. he may have told people at the front but anyone from the middle of the queue had no idea what was going on,
2) Great there was loads of bars open just a shame that the main bars where the main stage was, did not have much choice of drinks, Like only doing one larger or one cider, when other people may have wanted say a pint of Guinness. other then that the fest was great again.

Queues for everything especially the toilets absolutely ridiculous. Food & drink except at the Chalkwell Hall overpriced and gave my daughter an upset tummy - we had to leave early because of the toilet queue!
Not as many charity stalls as previous years and the stalls they did have were mostly really expensive.
Bins overflowing with mainly plastic with no where to recycle.

It was generally a superb day out and our two young children loved it. However, the sounds quality of the last two bands was very poor and there were nowhere near enough toilets, which is a problem when you have a 5 year old who always leaves it until the last minute to say she needs to go. Looking forward already to next year!

Maybe I 'm getting old but being disabled meant that I felt a little intimidated by the drunken crowds around the main stage and having to queue for a minimum 20 minutes for every drink or bite to eat was a bit much considering that bringing any food/drink with you was banned. Also, the lack of seating around that area was noticeable (even the disabled platform was only for wheelchairs or kids).
When we finally got some food I spotted five empty seats but when we went to sit on them a lady from the SOS bus told us that they were for the use of people involved with the SOS bus only and that we could not use them, even though it is very obvious that I am disabled. It was very sad to see that those same seats were empty for the entire three and a half hours we were there and the only person who sat on them during that time was that lady who was obviously able bodied.
A big shout out to the crew at the gates on Chalkwell Avenue for seeing that I was disabled and calling us back to let us in through the disabled access gate and also to the sound man with the couple who were singing on the storytelling stage for rushing off to find chairs for us.
I gave a big mark to the venue because I live just around the corner. We arrived late (4pm) to avoid the crowds for food but that didn't work and then we left at 19:30 because we didn't recognise any of the support band or any of their songs and between us couldn't think of anything that Busted had done so went on somewhere else instead. Not for us, but judging by the crowds and the amount of inebriated young people there it was probably an overall success and I can imagine some people made a handsome profit.

Appalling sound on main stage ruined Fun Lovin Criminals and how difficult is it in the land of festivals to get the toilets right? Otherwise a great event, but ruined by a lack of attention to the basics.
