Review of Swansea Food Fest
Hello. Firstly the event looked a little sad & small. I don’t want to use the word scruffy but the lay out was odd. It used the weirdest part of the park next to the main road, which made everything feel a bit exposed and not very special. The food vendors seemed a bit sad and depressed. No one was smiling, and if I did get a chat out of them, they moaned about the festival & how little money they made and a lack of customers. The rents for the stalls seemed crazy high too, again after chatting to them - seeing as the footfall was low they were never going to make much profit. The weather wasn’t horrific, it was slightly showery. Swansea weather we are very used to. Saturday was worse, and I think it must’ve put a lot of people off. On Sunday, I expected it to be busier. There seemed to be no wet weather plan, a real lack of shelter & seats in general. Perhaps as you knew it would be quiet? But there wasn’t enough seating or shelter in the main food area. Although you nearly covered all bases, burgers , hot dogs, Churros, curry, chicken, etc, the food wasn’t very exciting. Big problems for veggies & vegans (just chips?) and the prices seemed steep when we have already paid an entrance fee! It was like being at an actual festival (eg. Glastonbury) with the prices - When we were actually sat in our local park having paid the privilege to be there. Also what is with the fact that any event in that park doesn’t seem to know how to treat the grass. Maybe put some some tracking down? Or some wood chip splinters? I seemed a little odd to be churning the ground up. There are things that can be done to prevent this if you spend the money.
The VIP area looked hilarious. I was inundated with emails leading up to the event to try and get me to upgrade (more than double the ticket I’d already bought?!) but I’m very glad I didn’t. I could see celeb Lee Trundle in there - lols - and I think he has more money than sense. It had a crappy white picket fence separating it from the masses, a crap view of the stage and a toilet hidden in the bushes. Obvs if that is your jam, no disrespect to you but it couldn’t looked a bit more impressive from the paupers view.
The music was surprisingly good, especially 5ive, what a mad weird amazing booking. They went on 15 mins late and only played for half hour but I’m sure that’s as far as their appearance fee stretched. They sounded great and the crowd of 50 went wild.
The event wasn’t advertised enough. None of my friends & family knew about it and lots more would’ve come if they’d have known pop princes 5ive were there. Also the vendors were packing up too early on Sunday, it made it feel like you were turning up at the end of a boot fair catching the last dregs. I’m guessing it’s because they weren’t having a good time.
The toilets were great, clean and lots of hand sanitisers. Maybe because they were barely used through lack of customers. All in all, don’t stop putting on these events, but don’t cut corners because it’s a bit obvious and we look like Cardiff’s poor relative. I just think this could’ve been way better than it was, but who the heck am I? I’d still pay the same to go see 5ive for 30mins!!!

Extortionate prices that included very little.
I would expect
A) either free entry but costs attached to everything inside
B) the cost we paid, but this cost including at least the kids rides and free tasters for the food stalls, and then paying for extra food as well as alcohol.
I feel totally robbed.

Review of Swansea Food Fest
We paid £22 per person to enter and had no place to sit and eat our food as all tables were taken by big parties, we also felt that at £9 per dish for a curry or a wrap was far to expensive based on the size of the portion, understand that vendors need to make the day worth their while but there is a fine balance between having your pants pulled down and feeling robbed

Definitely would not recommend this event
£20 per ticket!!! Wow we walked around it slowly in about 10 mins
Talking to few stall holders and they hadn’t even raised enough to cover their pitch
There was a family paid at the gate for 4 walked in and walked straight out again complaining it was a disgusting waste of money
For the price I did think it would be like a country show but with food and drink to taste test and buy
NEVER EVER will I go back

Review of Swansea Food Fest
Extremely disappointed with the VIP area. Toilets dirty porto cabins & only 2. VIP tent was small, too far away from the stage. No real benefits for going VIP. Feel I’ve wasted my money 🤷🏼♀️

Review of Swansea Food Fest
No atmosphere on the Saturday
Expensive ticket price
Nothing inside to do apart from spend more money
Acts were poor apart from flash.
Wouldn't go to one of these events again unless ticket price was extremely reduced

Review of Swansea Food Fest
Overpriced & should not charge to enter. Not a lot of food choices. Also we refused to take in a can of c**e ? When they were selling cans & bottles of alcohol?? Was not a food festival only junk food. Apart from the cookery demonstration . We will not be attending again & will inform friends & others, it is not worth attending.

Review of Swansea Food Fest
The weather was absolutely torrential rain and they only had two marquees up. One medium sized in the middle but the way they had put the tables you couldn’t move around them and only the top half could be used because the lower ones were not under the marquee and so were soaking wet. The other marquee was for demonstrations only so we couldn’t get in there. There was also barely any seating which was ridiculous for a food festival. They had put fencing all around the edge of the park so you couldn’t even shelter under any trees as they had blocked them all off. The food was lovely but way too expensive - it was £7.50 for a pint of beer and then we had a small tray of loaded fries which were just under £9.00. They were lovely but also got soggy as we were out in the weather!! The weather on the Friday was predicted as horrible on the Saturday so they had plenty time to put up more shelter. Really badly organised and VERY disappointing

Review of Swansea Food Fest
Great first year for the festival! Music was amazing, only comment I would make is that there was 1 x non-alcoholic drink being Heineken zero, across all the stalls at the festival. It would have been great to have seen some AF gins, ciders etc as there is a lot of variety out there now and a lot of people are choosing not to drink alcohol, other than that a great day!
