Review of THE SLOW READERS CLUB + CIRCUS WOLVES + BROTHERS WATER
Small venue but there was a good atmosphere. Some sound troubles (particulary the microphone) but the bands played very well. Staff very friendly and would visit again.

Review of LOUISE DISTRAS (FULL BAND) plus 2
The Prisoners of Mother England were 1st on and I'd seen them before under a different name & they were musically fantastic but 1 slight bugbear is the singers recently acquired american sounding singing voice, shame as man's got good pipes! Hands Off Gretel were next & I'd been advised to catch these by a couple of people. They make a fine noise that put me in mind of Die so Fluid & hints of Babes In Toyland, without ever sounding anything other than original.
Louise Distras then came on for a solo show, armed with just a guitar & voice. For the next hour she captivated the audience with songs & stories. Her passion for her songs is evident & hearing stripped back versions of songs from her 2 yr old l.p. "Dreams from the Factory Floor" was a delight to hear. The crowd entered into the the spirit of the evening, singing along & providing harmonies ( yes Captain Bedderz I could hear you!) for her & the great thing was seeing Louise spark off this & when called back for an encore she dispensed with stage altogether & joined the crowd to serenade us....VIVA! Also I'd like to say that TV's Over should be applauded for putting on the show & respect to Stu Bellis for providing a great sound throughout(as always)!
