One of hip-hop’s most well-loved artists are heading to Manchester, with incendiary duo Run the Jewels hitting Victoria Warehouse on Thursday 9th November. One of the genre’s most unlikely pairings, Definitive Jux honcho El-P joined forces with Dungeon Family affiliate Killer Mike in 2013 to form the group, with the former having produced the latter’s LP after a chance meeting via Cartoon Network executive Jason DeMarco.
They’ve since released three albums, as well as a Kickstarter-funded remix album made entirely of cat noises. Few artists have really defined hip-hop's outspoken polemic in recent years quite like the odd couple as well, with Killer Mike becoming one of the most prominent voices in the Black Lives Matter movement and a fervent supporter of US politician Bernie Sanders.
Confirmed to join them is Detroit rapper, Danny Brown. Known for his cutting social commentary and deeply personal narratives, he has cemented himself as a true original within the genre today.
