Highest Point Festival checklist: What to bring to have a great time

With Highest Point just around the corner, it’s time we started prepping! Here are a few things to bring to the fest to ensure an unreal time.

With Highest Point Festival a little over a month away, we’re absolutely buzzing to get down in the crowds, hop on our mate's shoulders and have a cracking time. But to ensure we have the best time possible, some preparation is needed.

Thanks to Highest Point being a non-camping festival, there’s no need to faff about with tents, pegs, and all that nonsense. But there are still a few items you’ll be glad you brought when you peek in your bag, and those items are…

Your bank card, phone or smartwatch

CONVERT-bank-card

To reduce queue time, Highest Point Festival has gone cashless. This way, you won’t have to wait for that person in front of you as they struggle to get their cash together, checking each of their three hundred pockets, their bra, and their sock for perfect change.

Your ID

ID

If you plan on getting some bevs in, you’re going to need your ID. And even if you don’t plan on buying alcohol, you might need it for another reason. At Highest Point, a valid provisional driver's licence, a valid full driver's licence, or a valid passport are accepted as ID.

A waterproof

CONVERT-waterpoof

While we’re crossing our fingers for a glorious weekend of non-stop sun, you just can’t rely on British weather, can you? It’s best to take a waterproof just in case instead of finding yourself drenched halfway through the day with your jeans chaffing you.

Sun cream

Again, you can’t trust British weather. It could rain one minute and match the climate of the Sahara the next. There’s not much that’s worse than waking up with a hangover and burnt to a crisp to the point where you can barely walk.

Paracetamol and/or ibuprofen

CONVERT-para-ibu

Speaking of hangovers, you don’t want to miss your favourite artists because you had too much fun. And even if you won’t be drinking alcohol, a headache or random muscle pain can crop up from nowhere, and put a dampener on your day. But painkillers can make it more tolerable so you can get back on the dancefloor.

A refillable water bottle

CONVERT-waterbottle

Dancing all day dehydrates you. And if the weather is as good as we hope it’ll be, you’ll get dehydrated much quicker. Highest Point will have places for you to refill your empty water bottles to keep you safe, hydrated and happy. We recommend the collapsible kind, so it doesn’t take up too much space in your bag.

Hat

COVERTT-bucket

Perfect for hiding from rain or the sun, or just keeping your barnet warm, a hat is a must.

Sunglasses

Squinting all day because the sun showed up isn’t the vibe, and if you go too long without, you could end up with a headache. Protect your eyes!

Tissues/toilet roll

tissues

While festivals try their best to supply enough toilet roll, there are usually a few individuals who decide they need it all for themselves. Or it falls on the floor, which is usually muddy and wet. And if you need to wipe your hands or face after a snack, you don’t want to walk all the way to the toilets for some.

Hand sanitiser

CONVERT-hand-san-two

Even the most pristine festivals aren’t exactly the cleanest of places. It’s muddy, and even our phones are covered in bacteria. And trekking to the toilet to wash your hands so you can eat your burger is just… who can be arsed?

Earplugs

CONVERT-ear-plugs

This one’s probably deemed unnecessary by many, but listening to loud music for hours for three days straight will take its toll. The familiar ringing of the ears is the most obvious side effect. But if you’re a regular festival goer, you could do some real damage over time, and you need your hearing for future editions of Highest Point!

A small bag

bag

You’re gonna need to carry all these items with you somehow. A small bag, no bigger than a sheet of A4 paper, is the perfect size. It’s big enough to carry everything you need without making you that one person in the crowd with a massive bag that slaps everyone in the face every time you turn. Bum bags are our go-to.

Your dancing shoes

shoes

But literally. Dancing all day can hurt. You need a comfy pair that is, ideally, waterproof too. We’ve all suffered a mild case of trench foot after a festival, and it can be pretty grim.

Plasters

You might feel like you don’t need them, but when you’ve been on your feet for three days and your shoes aren’t as comfy as you thought they were, they can be a lifesaver.

Good vibes

CONVERT-good-vibes

At the end of the day, we're here to have a cracking time. So fuel up with some nutritious food, listen to some tunes on the way up to get yourself in the mood, then sing and dance your heart out at the festival. We’ll see on the dancefloor!

We know how easy it is to forget something that turns out to be vital on the day. So we hope you found this handy little checklist helpful. Now crank the tunes and get prepared for Highest Point 2022!
