Macbeth on Tuesday 15th - Wednesday 16th October 2019

Proteus Theatre presents

A highly physical re-imagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth as a corporate thriller set against the backdrop of the ‘greed is good’ culture of 1980s Britain.

This is London, October 1987.

This is a tale of greed, betrayal and murder.

This is Macbeth.

On the trading floor, success is all and ruthless ambition is rewarded. The only problem is, how do you control it before it consumes you?

Award-winning theatre company Proteus present a highly physical re-imagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth as a corporate thriller set against the backdrop of the ‘greed is good’ culture of 1980s Britain.

This new production features movement from George Mann of Ad Infinitum and is set to a pulsing soundtrack of 80s electro hits, synth-inspired modern classics and interwoven with specially composed original music.

Performances include a post show Q and A.

Age Guidance: 12+ includes scenes involving drug-taking

Reviews;

“Macbeth is at its greatest when it takes those audacious liberties with the source material” -A Spy In The Stalls

★★★★ “An ingenious and brave take on the original” - North West End

“There is a slickness in Mary Swan’s direction” - Gazette

“Shakespeare’s work is so frequently performed that it’s refreshing to see a version like this one, which makes you consider a story you know well in a completely different way. It’s also great to see Shakespeare performed by an entirely BAME cast, something we still don’t see enough of in London.” - The Blog of Theatre Things
