Katie Mac at Sound, Liverpool on Friday 25th January 2019

Katie Mac
Katie Mac is a singer-songwriter from Huyton, Liverpool. Taking influence from Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell and Regina Spektor, she has also been compared to the likes of Patti Smith, PJ Harvey and Kate Bush. Katie took her music to the next level by adding five band members to her solo act, and self-organising two full UK tours in 2016/2017. She has found great support off Dave Monks of BBC Introducing in Merseyside, and has been opened up towards a national audience with the help of BBC Radio 6 Music. Katie Mac and the band have recently been in the studio to record her new EP which was released on Friday 24th August 2018. The EP has been produced by Sam Duckworth of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly., and the project was funded by Merseyside Arts Foundation.
Tilt
Nikki & The Waves
Nikki & The Waves are Liverpool’s spicy glitter-fuelled indie pop band. With influences ranging from funk to indie rock and dream pop, they’re difficult to pin down but easy to listen to. Mixing brass with upbeat guitars and melancholic melodies they manage to create a modern sound that is nostalgic at the same time. Make sure to be wearing your dancing shoes when seeing them live!
'Liverpool’s Nikki & The Waves have created an eclectic fusion of jazz and pop – a brass ensemble complete with guitars and soothing vocals. The second track There He Goes from their EP, Look How Blue the Night Looks, is lounge music made interesting and demonstrates how using big band symphonies and harmonies can work when juxtaposed with quirky lyrics and a modern attitude.' - Get Into This, 2018
Chloe Foy
Chloe Foy writes a brand of melodic, homegrown music that has been likened to such artists as Laura Marling and Sharon Van Etten. Her songs are imbued with lyrical and textural inflections evocative of much of the music she loves - taking inspiration from classical music as much as wider transatlantic trends in folk and indie music, Chloe’s songs comprise of carefully constructed arrangements that delicately compliment her cryptic lyrics.
In 2017 she was chosen to collaborate on a residency with Mercury prize-nominated artist Beth Orton and this year has seen her gain the backing of some highly influential industry figures after a string of dates at SXSW festival. Her performance at The Driskill garnered support from Bob Boilen and NPR’s late night dispatches. Chloe has received substantial support from Steve Lamacq on his BBC Radio 2 & 6 shows, and singles ‘In The Middle Of The Night’, ‘Flaws’ and ‘Asylum’ have featured on a wealth of Spotify official playlists including Lost In The Woods and The Most Beautiful Songs In The World, generating over 3 million plays.
She has spent the summer touring in support of Jesca Hoop, also providing backing vocals in Jesca’s band and has her first headline tour in the Autumn.
