Held by Trees + Woody Hayden on Saturday 21st January 2023
Held By Trees is a new instrumental project sitting somewhere between post-rock and prog. Bringing together veterans of bands such as Talk Talk, Pink Floyd, aDire Straits and Blur, the debut album ’Solace’ has received unanimously positive reviews across the world and charted in the UK indie charts on its release in April 2022.
Described by many reviewers as a cross between Spirit of Eden era Talk Talk and Gilmour-led Pink Floyd, Held By Trees’ live iteration is a tantalising prospect. Led by David Joseph, the band features album contributors world-renowned guitarist Robbie McIntosh (The Pretenders, Paul McCartney, John Mayer, Talk Talk), flute/clarinet/sax virtuoso Andreas Panayi (McCartney, Mark Hollis), and piano master Laurence Pendrous (Mark Hollis, Anja Garbarek).
Few projects can boast support from both BBC 6 Music and Radio 3, but Held By Trees has many unique claims within its short history.
“...played beautifully throughout…3/4 stars” - Mojo Magazine
“...beautiful, minimalist, instrumental delight. 4/4 stars” - Scottish Daily Express
“A fascinating project… Rekindles the spirit of Talk Talk to startling effect… channels their psychedelic post-rock vibe to an almost eerie degree.” - Prog Magazine
“A tantalising project evokes the spirit of latter-era Talk Talk and David Gilmour-led late-period Pink Floyd...highly recommended for fans of Hollis’ sparse aesthetic. 4.5/5 stars”” - Classic Pop Magazine
“Timely, important, beautiful music” - Under the Radar
A standing show.
