Wembley Park - International Busking Day on Saturday 20th July 2019

3 July 2019: International Busking Day returns to Wembley Park on Saturday 20 July 2019. The all-day family-friendly event will run from 12.00-20.00, with over 50 acts performing across five stages of free music and entertainment.

International Busking Day is a celebration of busking and street acts, created and managed by Busk in London, and supported by the Mayor of London. The day features performances by both international and home-grown busking talent. For 2019, the entertainment will take place across Wembley Park, with locations including the Main Stage on Olympic Way; Market Square Stage showcasing the best in rising talent; the Street Performance Stage, Boxpark Stage; and the Community Stage hosted by The Yellow at the top of Wembley Park Boulevard.

Confirmed acts for this year’s event so far include singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Hattie Briggs, who was discovered by platinum-selling tenor singer, Alfie Boe while she was busking at Paddington Station; folk pop singer-songwriter Lucy May Walker, spotted by BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine busking at Charing Cross station; singer-songwriter Sherika Sherard, who supported Seal on tour in London and Brussels; multi award-winning‚ indie pop/rock artistNatalie Shay, one of London’s hottest emerging talents; musician and singer-songwriter Josh Greaves who is collaborating with multi-platinum song-writing team Steve Balsamo and Ben Robbins; singer-songwriter Robbie Boyd who is set to release his third album, Time Will Tell in July; and performer Bethzienna Williams, finalist on this year’s The Voice.

Additional talent to be announced soon.

The International Busking Day acts will be introduced by two presenters Capital Radio’s Sarah Story and Kiss FM’s Swarzy MaCaly over the course of the day.

Yamaha Music London will present a competition slot for a winning band or artist to perform at Wembley Park, as part of International Busking Day. The musicians will play on Yamaha instruments, chosen on the day. The final heat of the competition takes place this Friday 12 July at 6pm at Yamaha Music London. All you wanted to know about… events on how to make social media work for musicians and an opportunity to try out Sennheiser audio gear. There will be performances on the Boxpark Stage throughout the day and events into the night as Boxpark Wembley hosts the official after festival party.

Busking has increased in popularity over the years and many up and coming artists see it as a way to develop their performance skills, engage with a new audience and to earn money. Through the universal language of music, International Busking Day at Wembley Park is about celebrating and supporting the talent we hear on our streets and showcasing the very best in live music in a free public setting.

International Busking Day is just one element of an exciting summer of busking activity at Wembley Park.
