Countdown to eruption as Jurassic Dance Festival licence is granted for August 2024!

It's on! Jurassic Dance Festival 2024 is all set to erupt over the weekend of August 16-18 at Wilkswood Farm in Swanage, Dorset. House, disco, garage, drum’n’bass, trance, old skool rave – whatever your bag it will be featured, with pioneering DJ Judge Jules headlining the inaugural festival supported by a stellar cast of over 30 DJs and producers across two stages, including David Penn, Wh0, K-Klass, Slipmatt and Brandon Block.

Presenting a nostalgic trip back in time, the festival will host three days of classic dance vibes plus three night's camping in a relaxed countryside setting right on Dorset's Jurassic Coast. Last year's event had to be postponed due to police authorities being unable to process the license application in time but this year's festival has now got the nod and is forging ahead.

Friday will see House pioneers K-Klass top the bill on the main stage with slots from the godfather of oldskool Slipmatt, Mr Ibiza Nutter himself, Brandon Block and vinyl junkie Matt Handy. Stage 2 will see a takeover by UK garage maestros Step2 Records.

Spanish superstar DJ David Penn (Defected) will headline Xtra Hot Ibiza House session on Saturday, alongside Dr Packer (Glitterbox), Kev Scott & Shannon Lawton (Hot Radio), Doctor Feelgood (Mambo Ibiza), Martyn T Hat and Chris Rowland. Stage 2 sees a Bump’N’Hustle deep and soulful house takeover throughout the day.
Then it’s ‘Put your hands in the air’ time as the legend that is Judge Jules closes the main stage on Sunday night, appearing with WhO (Ministry/Printworks), Andy Galea (Sol Brothers), Paul Moss & Jon Langford (Manor), Mark Rush Palmer (Manor) and Tom Perry.

The family-friendly festival will invite mums and dads ready to revisit the club sounds of their youth in a safe, relaxed and welcoming setting in the heart of the Purbeck countryside. With capacity limited to 1,000, the festival will be a more relaxed, calmer environment than other larger events, aiming to encourage both dance-addicted teens and ex-clubbing parents to bring their kids to see how they did things in the old days. With a kid's zone and lots of activities for children over the course of the weekend, including DJ and dance workshops, mum and dad should be free to let their hair down like they did back in the day.

The main arena and bar are undercover so the music can continue whatever the weather. There is ample camping across the site so there's plenty of space for everyone. Campervans and small caravans are welcome in the campervan field and there is a designated field close to the arena for disabled ticket holders. There will be bars and street food stalls catering for all tastes and persuasions as well as merchandise stalls selling clothing, sunglasses, hats and the odd smiley badge or two.

Adult weekend tickets are priced at just £99 and include full access to the main dance arena from Friday to Sunday, three night's camping and free parking for the weekend. Under 18s are £49 and under 3s are free. A Family Weekend Bundle (two Adult & two Youth tickets) is available for £249. Campervans, mobile homes and small caravans are welcome in the campervan field for an extra £39 for the weekend.

The festival is organised by Hard Way promotions, the same team behind the Wilkswood Reggae Festival, now in its eighth year and which runs on the same site in July.

Jurassic Dance FAQs

Jurassic Dancer gates open at 10.00 am on Friday 16 August 2024.

Music starts each day at noon and finishes at midnight.

The main stage will finish at midnight on Sunday 18th.

The site will be expected to be clear by 2.00 pm on Monday 19th.

There are no cash machines on the festival site but there will be card payment facilities in the main bar and the majority of food and merchandise stalls.

If you bring a quantity of cash with you please keep it safe and secure and don’t keep all your cash and valuables in the same place.

The festival venue, Wilkswood Farm, is a working cattle farm for most of the year. Because broken glass would be an obvious danger to grazing animals, glass bottles are not permitted in the main arena or the camping areas. This is in line with the majority of UK music festivals. If you arrive at the camping area with glass bottles you will be requested to return them to your vehicle or decant them into suitable containers; failing this it will be confiscated at the entrance. Beer cans and plastic bottles are permitted but we request that you use either the waste bins provided or remove your litter to leave the site.

Unfortunately, because the festival site is part of a livestock farm, we cannot allow dogs anywhere on the festival site with the exception of registered guide dogs. However, there are several campsites in the area that allow dogs: check out Acton Field and Tom’s Field in Langton Matravers and Harmans Cross Campsite, all of which are close to the festival site.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept any other generators onsite other than those necessary for the live music, the sound systems and the caterers.
