In analysis undertaken by ourselves here at Skiddle, we can reveal that women are buying a record number of tickets to live music events.

Over the past five years, women have grown their market share of overall ticket sales by 22%, while in 2018, female music lovers out-purchased men by 13% on average.

We found that music festivals are where women are most dominant, with last year women buying 65% more music festival tickets than men on Skiddle's site - this was an increase of 35% on 2017.

In recent years, a call for greater diversity across festival line-ups has been the focus of much media scrutiny and a move towards more equal representation on stage could be one of the reasons female ticket buyers are growing in confidence.

As well as this, charitable organisations like Safe Gigs For Women and Girls Against are helping to create a safer environment in which females can enjoy live music, and while it's a travesty that organisations such as this have to exist in the first place, there is absolutely no doubting the brilliant work they do.
