The Lemonheads have announced that they will tour the UK in February. The band bring their acoustic and indie guitar sound to Stylus in Leeds on Wednesday 13th February, Engine Rooms in Southampton on Sunday 17th February and SWX in Bristol on Monday 18th February.

When originally formed in Boston, Massachusetts during the 1980s, The Lemonheads were a trio, fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist Evan Dando. Early albums such as Lick gained them popularity on the American alternative and college rock scene. Around the same time, an explosion in interest for the music occurred, lead by the worldwide success of Nirvana.

In 1992, The Lemonheads scored a huge hit with their 'It's A Shame About Ray' single (and album), which they followed with the Come on Feel The Lemonheads album in 1993. Following some time away from music, the band returned with an eponymous album in 2006.

Perhaps taking inspiration from the huge success of their cover version of Simon and Garfunkel's 'Mrs Robinson', in 2009 they committed to recording a full album of covers, the result being the brilliant Varshons on which they recorded songs by Gram Parsons and Townes Van Zandt. Evan Dando still fronts The Lemonheads to this day, although he is the only original member of the band remaining.

The Lemonheads early 2019 tour is in support of their new album Varshons 2, which is about to be released, so expect some more charming cover versions at the shows.
