You can’t beat a bank holiday, can you? Having a long weekend is always welcomed with open arms. That blissful feeling is only multiplied when you’re dead on Sunday and you remember you don’t have to go in on Monday. Then when the workweek begins, you’re only in for four days before you’re whisked away into another weekend. It’s a truly magical experience.

To take full advantage, you're going to need a plan. And that’s why we’re here. To help you figure out what to do with your August bank holiday. So, here are some of the best events and festivals that we think ought to know about, taking place over the extended weekend break at the end of this month.

All Points East is back with a lineup that’s simply to die for. While APE is technically over the bank holiday weekend, it’s also on the Friday and Saturday before. Even better!

This years lineup that’s left us drooling features all the headliners mentioned above as well as Idles, Pusha T, Cici, Daniel Avery, FKJ, Caroline Polachek, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, James Blake, Koffee, Michael Kiwanuka, Sleaford Mods, and more. Maiden Voyage

When: Sunday 28th August 2022

Where: Lee Valley Park, London

2022 lineup: Ahadadream, Acid Arab, D Double E, Floorplan, Hunee, Lady Shaka, ObjektOcto Octa, Shanti Celeste, Sherelle, Underground Resistance and many more

Maiden Voyage curates a lineup of incredibly diverse artists who tend to throw genre out the window. You’ll find many artists who clearly have influences spanning over a range of genres and styles, resulting in some of the most creative music you’ve ever heard.

One of the worst bits about festivals is artist clashing. It’s insanely frustrating and can dampen the day. It seems like Maiden Voyage is all too aware of the struggle, staying one step ahead by keeping artists on just one stage. This way you won’t miss any artists. Perfect!

The perfect event for music lovers, Maiden Voyage is all about the music and helping you find your new favourite artist, whether they be local or international talent.

Alfresco Festival

When: Thursday 25th - Monday 29th August 2022

Where: The Woods, Edenbridge

2022 lineup: TBA

We are dying to see who Alfresco Festival put on the lineup this year after the stunning lineup of 2021. Last year Daniel Avery, Paranoid London, Daniele Baldelli, Optimo, Dombrance, Lowlife, Crazy P Soundsystem absolutely smashed it for a lucky crowd of ravers.

We believe bank holidays are the perfect time to escape and let go. And if you go too hard, at least you only have a four-day week to drag yourself through. With this in mind, Alfresco Festival is the perfect August bank holiday event. Tucked away deep in the woods, it’s the best location to let go and enjoy your long weekend.

It has an 8-year reputation for being inclusive for all ages, with plenty of free entertainment and activities on offer. For those who are looking for a dance down in the depths of a forest, you couldn't come to a better place. It's a wonderful event with a low capacity, making for a lovely boutique experience.

When: Thursday 26th August 2022

Where: Whitebottom Farm, Stockport

2022 lineup: TBA

The Moovin Festival lineup hasn't been revealed for this year yet, but there can be little doubt that it will contain some of the biggest names and best room shakers around. Just south of Manchester is where you'll find this haven of house, drum and bass, acid house and more. A party that started with a few hundred people is growing year upon year and has a glowing reputation.

Previous acts who have played the festival include Groove Armada, 808 State, Basement Jaxx, Stockport native Mr. Scruff, Soul II Soul, Inner City and other big names. Although they have grown, the festival does retain its boutique status by limiting it to a few thousand to keep it intimate, exclusive and making people hungry for more after each edition.
