Skiddle's Open Goal: A Weekly Roundup of Football news and events

In this week of Premier League action, we were given the tantalising prospect of Chelsea playing Manchester United, with the former looking to maintain their title charge and the latter wanting to pick themselves after a miserable couple of months. After a slightly disappointing first half, it was United who took the lead after Jadon Sancho capitalised on a poor Jorginho touch to give him the freedom of the Chelsea half, finishing cooly into the corner.

Then as it looked as Chelsea were trying to regain control Thiago Silva nipped in front of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to draw a foul in the box. Jorginho capitalised with an emphatic penalty into the bottom corner. It was a close game where United will be probably come out the happier as it slightly halts their slide down the table and Sancho finally got a league goal. This result gave both Manchester City and Liverpool the chance to close the gap to Chelsea.

Liverpool were 4-0 winners over Southampton and Manchester City beat West Ham 2-1 in a close game in a snowy Etihad. The top three are now only separated by three points. Both Arsenal and Aston Villa kept up recent momentum by winning and Leicester beat Watford in a thrilling 4-2 encounter that saw Watford receive a warm ovation from the home fans for that legendary title win.

In Championship news it was a tale of forgotten men at Swansea vs Reading as both Andy Carrol and Danny Drinkwater made appearances for the away side with them even combining for one of Reading's goals in a much needed 3-2 victory for the side. In a strange weekend, title favourites Fulham, Bournemouth and West Brom all drew meaning that the league is looking as close as ever with QPR now looking like the in-form team after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Derby County.

With November coming to a close and this month we've picked Reece James of Chelsea who has had a pretty ridiculous month. Sure not gaining a victory at Old Trafford was a blow but Chelsea are looking imperious in the league and Champions League. The right-back is in the form of his life, getting forward at every opportunity and causing the opposition absolute chaos. His defensive game has been spot on too and he has somehow gotten even better whilst under Tuchel.

Hastings United vs Chichester City

When: Tuesday 30th November

Where: The TGS Pilot Field, Hastings

Hastings United will be looking to get one over on Chichester City and potentially climb into the top 5 of the league if other results go their way. This will be no easy game and will certainly bring about some tight moments as we get into the middle portion of the season which can make or break you.

It's as important as ever to get a good run of form going and a win here could set up either side for a strong sense of momentum going into December.

MUFC vs West Ham Hospitality

It looks like West Ham are one of the most impressive teams in the league this season, assembling a team that is hard to beat and has a lot of attacking potential. It'll be a return that David Moyes will be looking forward to as surely beating his old side will put a smile on his face.

Manchester United vs Tottenham has had quite a few thrillers down the years and United will still be slightly wounded from the 6-1 thrashing Spurs gave them early on last season. With both teams having so much attacking prowess, this will be a firecracker and a key game as they look towards those Champions League places.
