A man who can only be described as a living legend, Roy Ayers will drop by 24 Kitchen Street in Liverpool on Thursday 17th August.
One of the most prolific music producers of the 70s, Ayers unquestionably became known as the figurehead of his genre, championing a sound that drew influence from multiple genres, blending elements of jazz, funk, soul, latin, R&B and later on, hip hop.
Picking up the moniker the 'Godfather of neo-soul', Ayers has helped to shape a new sound, and along the way has released huge hits such as 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine', 'Running Away' and 'Don’t Stop the Feeling', continuing to write, produce and compose up to the present day.
He has also truly marked his legacy on modern music, having been a major influence on musicians across the industry, he has been sampled by artists like Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Common, Mary J. Blige and A Tribe Called Quest.
