Today marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, running from Monday 9th to Sunday 15th May. In support of this extremely important annual event, our team here at Skiddle have produced a short campaign looking at the tie between music, those who operate within the industry, and our collective mental well being.

Over the next seven days, we'll be sharing exclusive insight from a host of well-known musical acts as well as those working hard behind the scenes to make gigs, festivals and clubbing events a reality, via our Skiddle blog and social media pages. Each of the involved will offer their own advice with a view to helping those who may find themselves struggling, whilst also discussing how music can be a vital tool in battling feelings of anxiety, stress and bouts of depression.

Coinciding with the theme of this year's awareness week, loneliness, our campaign will additionally offer tips and places to find further information or help to alleviate the impacts of feeling alone. Distressingly, it's said that one in four adults feel lonely some or all of the time, and that loneliness can put any individual at further risk from suffering added mental health complications.

Below, you'll find our open letter to kick start our mini-campaign, outlining why we believe it is crucial that we support one of the biggest awareness week's in the UK, together with the music industry and the musicians and creatives that make it what it is.
