Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo aka Daft Punk have confirmed news of their break up via an eight-minute video posted on the duo's YouTube channel. The specifics of the split have yet to be confirmed.

The video called ‘Epilogue’, which features footage from their 2006 sci-fi film Electroma, see's the Parisian pair in their customary robotic head gear and branded leather jackets, walking through the desert. The tense video peaks when one of the two mechanical figures explodes as the other watches on, following a short countdown sequence triggered by the remaining member.

It's unclear as to what exactly happens to the surviving android, as it walks off quite literally into the sunset to a choral version of the group’s 2013 song ‘Touch’. Will we see more records to come from one half of Daft Punk?

The video for 'Epilogue', which you can watch below, has been viewed almost half a million times since it was uploaded (22nd February).

Known for producing numerous influential, award-winning electronic records  - the likes of debut album 'Homework' and follow up 'Discovery', consisting of stand out tracks 'Around The World', 'One More Time', 'Aerodynamic' and many more - the duo have become one of the worlds most sought after, enigmatic and widely adored DJ/producer acts.

Internationally recognised as pioneers of the French house scene, the duo's astonishing career highlights include collaborating with the likes of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers to namedrop a few, winning six Grammy awards for their creative output and producing the soundtrack to the film Tron: Legacy, released back in 2010.
