Before Diffraction launched in Scunthorpe, locals who enjoy tech and tech house music would travel further afield to see their favorite artists. The town was saturated only playing chart and commercial music across the few clubs still operating on the high street.

Luke Grice, the founder of Diffraction Events saw a new opportunity to launch one of the only events that exist in Scunthorpe. Living in Sheffield whilst studying at University, he saw locals traveling to Sheffield on a regular basis to see all of the big names perform in the cities many underground venues. In November 2017, Luke launched Diffraction Events which would be hosted at the newly refurbished Void Nightclub on Scunthorpe's High Street. The response from the first event was overwhelming, with details been featured in many local papers.

The VOID Nightclub (formally Storm) on the High Street was recently renamed and refurbished by operator Tom Dale. The club was completely redesigned to give a city vibe featuring a range of strobe and laser lighting systems. The club, which normally operates an Urban/RnB music policy met all of the criteria that Luke was looking. In late November 2017, Diffractions opening night launched featuring Del-30, Cloonee and Two Faced. The opening party had an 'elrow' style theme with giant inflatables and confetti cannons. Since the opening night, Diffraction has hosted two more successful events seeing record door numbers for the club.

On 20th April, Diffraction returns for the fourth installment. This time they've gone bigger than ever before with three headline artists; Franky Wah, Kinnerman, and Rich Pinder. The organizers hope that this event will bring people from further afield into the town, making another successful night. This event will feature a LED Video Screen, CO2 Blasters and Confetti Cannons as well as a few other surprises.
