As officially Europe's longest standing clubnight, Back To Basics embodies everything that is right with the dance scene; a backbone of talented residents, a loyal following of ravers and a knack for welcoming the most gifted selectors in the business to play.

One DJ who has been a key part of Back To Basic's history is Denney. Brought up in Leeds, his time spent as a resident for the renowned party helped shape him as an artist and readied him for a career which would include standout releases on Hot Creations and VIVa MUSiC. Ahead of the next Basics event at Church, we caught up with Denney to find out the tracks which remind him most of his time spent there.

Mathew Jonson 'Typerope'

This is one of those rare records which I never get tired of listening to and has been a favourite of mine for years. The groove is totally understated yet captures you and locks you in. Mathew Jonson is one of the best producers for me and this piece of work is one of his finest in my eyes.

Dennis Ferrer & Jerome Sydenham 'Timbuktu' (Pan-African Electro Dub)

When I first heard this record it absolutely blew me away and I still love it as much now as when I did then. Everything about this track is truly amazing, from the drums to the melody that comes in half way through the track. It's a journey in itself and I will never get tired of playing and hearing it.

Grand Theft Audio “Long Time”

When I first started DJing, Drop Music was the label I could always buy without even listening to it as every release was so strong and consistently put out quality. This track was a stand out record which I used to play constantly back in the day. Over recent years it has had a resurgence at DC10 with the likes of Apollonia playing it.

Derrick Carter 'Where You At?'

Derrick Carter has probably been the most influential DJ for me growing up and still blows me away everytime I see him play. This track was huge at the time of its release and one of his most famous productions, it still goes off when ever it is played now. A true modern day House classic.

Bushwacka! 'Healer'

I couldn't finish this list without a track by Bushwacka!, he has been one of my favourite producers for well over 10 years now. This track has so many layers and is truly timeless. I keep discovering tracks from his back catalogue which are incredible. A true genius producer in my eyes.
