Resident DJs for the major club nights tend to know the island like the back of their hand. After all, they have time to explore Ibiza at their own pace and experience the venues as both an entertainer and a clubber.

Sam Divine is considered to be the Queen of Defected. She is one of their pivotal residents, and a valued member of their close-knit family (listen to her mix Defected In The House closing at Booom last year below).

Defected are making their mark on the Ibiza again this season with parties on the Terrace at Amensia with Together. You can also indulge in their disco and house Glitterbox events at Space.

We caught up with her ahead of some of her Ibiza gigs in order to get the inside knowledge on the island and all it has to offer.

Where do you stay on the island when you're there and why?

I stay at the Defected Villa with all the DJ’s that are playing at the Defected party at Amnesia.

What makes Ibiza so special?

Many things, the people, the music, the clubs, the beaches, the food and the vibe.

Where are your favorite places to eat?

I love Kumharas in San Antonio bay, it has the perfect sunset setting and some of the best cocktails on the island. My favorite dish is the Tempura Prawn and Seafood curry, it’s delicious.

And the best places to go out?

Amnesia! The club holds a lot of special memories for me over the past 10 years, I would say I’m emotionally attached to the club.

Who do you think will be the star of the season this year?

Rather than a particular DJ, I would say club nights Glitterbox at Space, Defected at Amnesia (below) and Ants at Ushuaia

will all be making a lot of noise.

Where is the best place to watch the sun set and rise on the island?

For the ultimate sunset vibe has to be Café Mambo. For sunrise my balcony with my friends

.

For someone about to come to Ibiza for the first time, what are the three things they must do before there time is out?

Experience a sunset, rave until seven in the morning
and get a selfie with their favourite DJ.

What’s the island's greatest hidden secret?

Formentera is a 45 minute boat ride away from the island and it’s pure heaven. Clear blue sea and white sand, its simply breathtaking.

What is your fondest memory of your time spent on the island?

I have 10 years of great memories. Ibiza has given me a career, a second home and the place where I met all my best friends.

And finally, what one bit of advice would you give someone hitting Ibiza for the first time?

It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Check out Sam Divine's upcoming gigs including those at Together + Defected at Amnesia.
