About Beat-Herder Festival 2024
Beat-Herder is one of those festivals that really provides breath of fresh air. Since its inception, Beat-Herder has remained non conformist to big festival norms, and continues to provide a welcome alternative to the big money festivals around the country.
Beat-Herder's growth has kept true to its ideal, but at the same time has managed booking increasingly bigger names and impressive lineups. Previous years headliners have included the likes of Orbital, Death In Vegas, Lee Scratch Perry, Mr Scruff & Mc Kwasi, Goldie, Roni Size, and Jake Bugg.
Hosting over 8 stages of live music and big name DJs, wonderful locally sourced food, as well as a number of creative workshops, this festival caters for everyone, and does all it can to ensure your continued entertainment throughout the weekend.
With no sponsorship and no corporate interference, Beat-Herder can remain as creative as ever, and carry on producing that vital ingredient - fun.
Music genres: Dub, Dubstep, Folk, Reggae, Techno

Due to a recent spate of devastating carbon monoxide poisonings in tents around the UK, the festival now has a complete ban on gas bottles being used inside any tents. This applies for both heating or cooking.
Please ensure all cooking is done in a well ventilated porch or gazebo or, better still, completely outside your tent.
A much safer solution to the problem of keeping warm at night would be a decent thick duvet or sleeping bag and a roll mat. These options are often cheaper than buying a gas heater and are definitely safer and permitted at the festival.
Yes, through prior arrangement. Please get in touch with Nicola@beatherder.co.uk, who will sort it out. The festival requires proof of DWP DLA benefit, and request that you leave it no later than the end of May to get in touch. Beat-Herder will do its best to arrange any special requirements.

Not specifically. We try to encourage those who prefer things a bit quieter to head towards the furthest fields. These areas generally have a bit more room too as they require a bit more effort to get there. (it's not miles away though - maybe a few hundred metres further).
As always, there will be disabled toilets in the main arena and camping areas. This year there is a separate camping area with a charging tent for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. This area is close to the arena entrance and will be for both tents and campervans, users can have their cars close by. If you would like to use this area, or have any other requirements, please get in touch with Nicola@beatherder.co.uk before the end of May.
No, it's a music festival!
Having said that, they have a large, well equipped and properly staffed children's area within the festival, as well as plenty to entertain children of all ages across the whole site.
Many people bring children along and have a great time, but please remember that you need to be over 25 if you are bringing anyone under 18 with you (up to a max. of 2 U18s).
Please also remember that adults making the most of a music festival can sometimes be a bit intimidating to the young and uninitiated, especially later in the evening.
Yes. Beat-Herder has teamed up with close friend Mr (Tommy) Thompson. He's a local tent maker and is offering the use of his bell tents and yurts as boutique accommodation at the festival - sited in their own exclusive compound, accessed only by those with special wristbands. The area will have hot showers and flushing toilets. Prices vary - depending on size and requirements.
For more info on other Camping Under the Stars options please get in touch with Tommy directly by emailing tommy@campingunderthestars.com or on 07966392381. You can see some of Tommy's work by visiting his website.
It depends on what ticket you have bought...
For Thursday Entry (4 DAY TICKET) ticket holders, the festival site will be open from 10am on Thursday 13th July 2023.
For Friday Entry (3 DAY TICKET)ticket holders, the festival site will be open from 9.00am on Friday 14th July 2023.
Yep, although you'll need a specific pass, depending on what you're bringing. There are passes for campervans up to 6 meters long, passes for those over 6 meters long and passes for cars towing caravans. You can get the pass that you need when you buy your tickets.
You can bring as much alcohol as you like into the camping areas. Alcohol brought from the campsite/live-in vehicle and boutique camping areas into the main arena will be limited to 4 cans or a reasonable equivalent in other vessels.
The festival doesn't restrict the amount of trips you make back and forth with alcohol, but please don't forget, Beat-Herder is self funded and bar sales contribute hugely to the continuation of the event. Alcohol prices are reasonable - no more than in your local pub. Oh, and drinks are served cold, not like your tent-warmed four pack!
Glass is NOT ALLOWED in the main arena.
Yes. There are a few options, including 'the more fun showers' (cold) and some primo hot showers, which are cleaned between uses (there's a small charge for these).
